Nan Zhang was born in1980 atHeilongjiang(China). In 1992,he studied with Mr Huanquan Li.In 1994, he studied with Mr.Yuming Zhuang,principal trumpet of The China Broadcast Symphony Orchestra.In1996,he passed the examination for the Affiliated Middle School of the Central Conservatory Of Music, and studied with Professor Ruikai Ji. In 1999, he was admitted into the Central Conservatory Of Music. In 2000, he was appointed to be principal trumpet of The China Youth Symphony Orchestra.In the same year,as a representative of the People’s Republic of Chinahe was selected to perform on the opening ceremony of 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. His performance was highly commended by local media—“the face of eastern, sound of western”.Graduating in 2003,Nan was recommended for postgraduate study at the Central Conservatory Of Music, and studied with Mr.Zhonghui Dai, In the same year, he participated the China Chamber Music Competition and got first prize in the catalogue of brass ensemble.
In 2004, Nan recorded an albumwith four other musicians including the principal trumpet from TheChinaPhilharmonic Orchestra. This album was named “ChinaPhilharmonic Orchestra Brass Quintet”. Ithas published nation wide and overseas. Moreover, it has been praised by media and music critics.
In 2006, TheChinaNational Opera House Symphony Orchestra hiredNanas principal trumpet. He has performed nearly thousandof concert with different Orchestras including TheChinaPhilharmonic Orchestra, TheChinaNational Symphony Orchestra, TheMacauSymphony Orchestra .
Since 2009 to present, he has been teaching in the department of orchestral instrument at the China Conservatory of Music.
